Spindel
Die letzten Tage habe ich mal wieder eine meiner Spindeln hervorgeholt (ihr könnt sie hier sehen), und ich kann es noch ganz gut. Da ich feines Garn immer noch am besten auf der Spindel spinne, habe ich beschlossen, mir auf diese Weise Garn für ein schönes Tuch zu spinnen. Zwirnen werde ich wohl am Spinnrad, denn das mache ich ungerne mit der Spindel. Auch sonst habe ich eher gesponnen (Rad und Spindel) als gestrickt, weil das bei der Hitze besser geht als stircken.
During the last few days I took out one of my spindles again (you can see my home made spindle I used here, it is 25 g (a little less than an ounce) and made from a Tunesian Crochet Hook and Fimo). I can still spindle quite well. I can spin fine yarn much better on a spindle, and so I decided I'll spin a laceweight for a nice shawl. I'll ply with my wheel, because I don't like plying with a spindle. Lately I've rather spun (with wheel and spindle) than knit, because in this heat spinning is easier for me.

Erst spät
am Nachmittag waren wir wieder zu Hause, und dann haben wir Fernsehen geguckt - erst einen Film (Flubber) von Video, und dann noch die 2. Halbzeit vom Länderspiel Deutschland - Brasilien. Das Spiel war interessant, guter Fußball, nur hätte ich den Deutschen das 5. Tor gegönnt.
Beim Fernsehen ist dann der zweite von den Pastellsocken angefangen worden und bis etwa 2/3 Schaft gediehen. Heute werde ich wohl nichts kompliziertes mehr stricken, höchstens noch ein bisschen Socke.
We were home late in the afternoon, and watched TV after that. First we watched a movie (Flubber) from tape, later we watched the second half of the soccer game Germany - Brazilia. Interesting game, both teams played well, I'd only wished the fifth goal would have been for Germany instead of Brazilia.
During TV time I knitted of course - cast on the second of the pastel socks, and did about 2/3 of the shaft. Today I think I won't knit anything complicated but go on with the sock, maybe.

Einen wunderschönen Tag
haben wir heute verbracht, und haben schon sehr früh damit angefangen: Kurz nach acht Uhr morgens sind wir mit den Fahrrädern Richtung Dormagen gefahren. Nicht unbedingt den kürzesten, aber einen sehr schönen Weg, viel durch den Wald, später dann am Rhein entlang. Wir haben auch viele Vögel gesehen, z. B. einen Greif auf einem Baum in nächster Nähe, einen Eichelhäher und einen Schwarm Krähen. Wir sind nur ein bisschen nass geworden, und bei den Temperaturen machte das auch ohne Regenjacke nichts weiter aus. Den Rückweg haben wir dann mit der S-Bahn zurückgelegt. Bei den Schwiegereltern sind wir dann mit 2. Frühstück und später mit Mittagessen versorgt worden. Ich habe sogar etwas dort arbeiten können.

We didn't use the shortest, but a very nice way, through lots of wood, later along the Rhine. We saw lots of birds, a bird of prey sitting nearby on a tree, a jaybird and a swarm of crows. We only got a little wet, and with the high temperatures this wasn't really too bad, even without a raincoat. On the way back we took the train. At my inlaws we got second breakfast and lunch, and I even got some work done while we were there.
