Stress-Tag
war gestern, und da habe ich nichts geschafft. Gleich 3 Termine außer der Reihe, 2 davon sehr anstrengend und mit Vorbereitungen verbunden, die ich mal wieder erst in letzter Minute fertig hatte - hetz, hetz. Dazu noch der ganz normale Wahnsinn, wenn man kurz vor dem Abgabetermin einer größeren Übersetzung steht. Und natürlich das ganz normale Familienleben. Das führte dazu, dass ich abends so aufgedreht und gleichzeitig völlig fertig war, dass ich noch nicht mal gestrickt habe, und dann auch nicht so bald eingeschlafen bin. Trotzdem war ich heute morgen halbwegs erholt, heute ist alles ein bisschen langsamer.
Dafür habe ich heute schon geribbelt. Man stelle sich meine Augen vor, als ich ungefähr 10 oder so Mustersätze weiter unten einen Fehler fand, den ich nun wirklich nicht so lassen konnte - mitten im Abnahmeabschnitt des Pfauenmusters ein Umschlag mit wunderschönem Loch. Weiter oben waren noch ein oder zwei nicht ganz so auffällige Fehler, die habe ich also gleich mit beseitigt.
Gelernt habe ich daraus, dass auch ein "einfaches" Muster von Maschenmarkern profitieren kann, weil man die Fehler vieeel schneller merkt und damit auch leichter beseitigen kann. Jetzt hat jeder Mustersatz und auch der ungemusterte Rand seine Markierung. So muss ich auch nicht mehr bis 72 zählen, um Fehler zu finden, was viel zu aufwändig und fehleranfällig ist.
Yesterday I had a very stressy day. Three extra dates to keep, two of them very draining and with preparations - which were finished, als most of the time - just in time. This sure heightens the stress factor, but it's just me. In addition to that the normal insane pace of an approaching translation deadline. Not mentioning some kind of normal family life. At nicht all of that added up to a state of mind which at the same time was bone tired and fidgety. This didn't allow for any knitting time, and made me toss quite a while in a semi-conscious state instead of sleeping. Astonishingly enough I felt rested this morning, and everything is back to a normal pace.
Today I needed to go to the frog pond - imagine the size of my eyes when I detected a mistake about 10 repeats down in my shrug that was impossible to ignore: an unwanted yarn over with a hole in the part of the pattern that is just decreases (feather and fan that is). Farther up in the knitting were two or so more mistakes, but they weren't that noticable. Now they are gone too, which is ok by me.
I learned from this that even a "simple" pattern will profit from stitch markers because you will spot mistakes sooner, which will make it so much easier to take them out. Now every repeat has its own marker, plus markers for the plain stockinette edge. Now I don't have to count to 72 to find boo-boos, which is too prone to error and too much work anyway.
